Pastor Advocacy Institute

The Nehemiah Project’s Pastor Advocacy Institute is primarily a training and facilitative platform for church leaders to become as equipped as possible to participate in the process of building democracy. This includes building a fellowship that selects pastors from around the world. These individuals are involved or want to become involved in preserving and strengthening democracy in their respective nations. The curriculum deepens knowledge of democratic processes, introduces techniques to implement that knowledge toward desired change, and increases the breadth of network available to affect such change. It does this through:

  • Highlighting democratic pillars, their roles, strengths, and weaknesses
  • Training fellows in methods of non-violent struggle and ground work advocacy aimed at affecting those pillars
  • Providing fellows with inspiration in structuring and waging their own struggle
  • Uniting and connecting fellows in their support of democracy
  • Revealing how biblical teachings may be applied to democratic advocacy
  • Amplifying the plight of church leaders facing persecution as a result of their stand for democracy
  • Mobilizing resources for church leaders to facilitate their defense of democracy

The Pastor Advocacy Institute is conducted through a series of modules accessible on this site. Taught virtually by Pastor Evan Mawarire, it serves to empower fellows in recognizing theirs roles in promoting democracy and serving as catalysts for positive socio-political change.
